ABOUT BRENDAN
Welcome to Flight Plan Travel. Across more than a decade, I’ve combined my passion of travel, aviation and complex systems into a career helping to improve frontline operations for both customers and people, working for companies such as Qantas and Townsville Airport.
I have always loved travel, airports, and the complex nature that makes transit possible - from the engineering of an aircraft, to human psychology, the technology that enables this and how thoughtful service design contributes to great, frictionless travel experiences.
My time in aviation also gave me the opportunity to travel to many places affordably which has also helped develop my interests in budget travel and particularly in Japan, which I I have visited a number of times. As chance would have it, I also featured in an SBC TV production in Nagano, which you can read more about in this article.
Recently my interests for all these threads has come together as a new iteration of Flight Plan Travel - a place to share my travel writing (having completed a Travel Writing subject with Curtin University in 2025), thoughts on aviation, transit and to connect with like minded advocates and travellers using my professional experience. You can also find out ways to support my writing (for less than a coffee) by clicking the button below. Wherever you are, I hope I can inspire you to travel more often and more accessibly.
Thank you for being here and for supporting my independent writing.
Brendan
